We invite you and your scout troop to take advantage of all that the Mission San Juan Capistrano has to offer, on our mission grounds and take our Mission Matters educational program.

Mission San Juan Capistrano is pleased to announce a new patch program for scouting groups. Scout leaders can sign up their scouts for a group tour and Mission Matters program at Mission San Juan Capistrano, and for a nominal charge, each scout can earn a special Mission patch for his/her uniform. The patch features a classic image of the historic Mission designed for the uniform sleeve.

Mission Matters offers curriculum-based activities that adhere to the State of California’s content standards and concepts. It encourages children to use their five senses to explore the past, as they step back in time to examine the daily lives of Native American workers at the Mission. Students engage in such hands-on projects as rope making, adobe brick making and hide branding.

Sample projects will include one of the following:

Unraveling the Story: 
Rope Making offered Mondays & Tuesdays
Following the Acjachemen Footsteps: 
Adobe Brick Making offered Wednesdays & Thursdays
A Brand is Forever: 
Hide Branding - by appointment, small groups only, great for Scout groups
